Countdown to Slimdown

On the eve of 3 months of marriage my husband approached me with the idea to slim down. We are starting back our gym and diet routine. No longer will we complain about how we've "gotten that happy weight". We are going to lose together as a family. I'm not terribly excited to start in the middle of the holidays, but I made a promise and I want to keep it.

Wait! I will keep the recipes coming (got a new one for spicy chesse biscuits, but moderation will be our guide.

Stay blessed!

G's Homemade Chili

Hello Friends,

Here's another recipe that the hubby just adored. Try it and tell me what you think!

G's Homemade Chili

1 pound lean ground chuck or beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 16 ounce can of pinto beans
1 16 ounce can tomato paste
1 1/2 cups of water
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 teaspoon of hotsauce

Brown meat first with onions over medium heat until you no longer see pink and then add remaining ingredients
Whole process should take around 25 minutes.

Thanksgiving and more

Hey Friends,
Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving and before I moved to Augusta from Birmingham:

Greek Marinade

This marinade is best for baking chicken.

Things you will need:

  • Food processor

  • Fresh Garlic Cloves

  • Lemons

  • Greek Olive Oil

  • Fresh Mint Leaves

  • Fresh Parsley Leaves

  • Brush (small, new paint brush to brush on marinade to chicken)

Clean chicken

Cut lemons and drain for lemon juice. Also, add the zest of the lemon to the mixer. Next pour content into food processor and include all other ingredients mentioned. Once the mixer is smooth, take your brush and input into mixer. Make sure that you have inserted several slics in the raw chicken in order for the flavor to go through meat evenly. Apply mixer to chicken and make sure it's applied evenly. Bake chicken as normal. ) Oven for 35-45 minutes on 350-425. Enjoy!

Raspberry Smoothies

Things you will need:

  • Blender
  • Vanilla Yogurt
  • Raspberry Sorbet
  • Cran-Raspberry Juice
  • Fresh Raspberries
  • Vodka

Add all ingredients except vodka in blender. If you prefer non-alcohol then leave the vodka out and enjoy! For all you booze lovers, add vodka after blending other ingredients. Only add enough vodka to smooth out the blend. 1/4 cup will do the trick. Tell me how you like it.

Genuinely Happy

Today, I'm filled with both reflief and happiness. I can't explain exactly what the combination feels like, but its a pure rush. I most recently said "farewell" to a place I've known for a long time. It feels like I'm getting a divorce, but we are still friends in a way. I've learned alot, gained a ton of knowledge and friends along the way, but our journey has come to an end. I've grown up here and will never forget what we had. I apprecaite you and in a way I still love attributes about you. Now, I must turn away and face my new life without you, but thank you all the way. Will we meet again? Decidely so, but for now it's goodbye.

HELLO AUGUSTA!!!! Let's get to know each other.......

Happy 2 Month Anniversary!!!

Wow! I can't believe that we have ben married for 2 months now. Time flies when you are in love. Things are really about to jump off for us! Fresh start, new beginnings together. Thank God! We'll, I'm out of the office starting tomorrow and will make my way to Augusta to visit the hubs and check out the new digs. Jermaine has requested some meals, so I will be Betty Crocker for the most part, but hey I'm more than happy to do it since I don't get the opportunity often. Thrift shopping, movies, church and plain ole lounging is on the agenda. I hope it doesn't rain or get very cold.

P.S. Send prayers to the fallen soliders and civilians at Fort Hood in Texas.

Love,

Mrs. G. Windham

Hubby's home

I'm so very pleased to say that Jermaine is safe and back from his journey! Thank you Jesus! We were expecting him home 1st or 2nd week in November, but plans changed, Good stuff! The plans I had to hang with the girls have evaporated and I think they do understand:)

Happy times are here again and I'm always thankful for the small things.

Million Dollar Bill Monday

Well, I didn't make a million bucks, but I sure feel like it. It all started with a phone call from the hubster. Next, I closed a piece of business that was like pulling teeth, YIKES! 30k in sleeping rooms for 2010 to be exact, plus food and beverage. Thanks to my senior and director for being a great support. Feels good to close deals as of late. Makes it all worth the while. Later tonight I attended a very nice reception put on by the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau. Also, the Sheraton Birmingham put on a nice reception for our in-house group, Rejuvinate. Shout out to Denise Searcy for bringing in this business to our city. What an awesome mentor! Also, Chef Rigot! You never cease to amaze me! Where would we be without you? Today was a good day! Now, to bed I go. Doing it all over again on tomorrow. www.sheraton.com/birmingham

Hello!! We are The Windham's

The newlyweds are on the BLOGSPOT! We decided to start a blog today to keep a record of both the simple and amazing things that are happening with us. I hope that this is just as much fun or interesting as the many wonderful internet networks around. I'm not sure how often we'll post things, but hopefully we will get some great feedback.

Let's begin the journey.....
